John Jumper, who shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for creating AlphaFold, announced June 19 that he is joining Anthropic after nine years at Google DeepMind. Reported first by Bloomberg on June 19, confirmed by TechCrunch on June 20. His specific role at Anthropic has not been announced.
The hire aligns with Anthropic's push into life sciences and computational biology. Jumper was the youngest chemistry laureate in more than 70 years when he received the prize.
