Saturday, June 26. Anthropic published the June edition of its Economic Index, organized around a single question: do people use Claude on a schedule?

They do. The survey linked responses from roughly 9,700 participants to anonymized conversation data from mid-April to early June 2026. The temporal signatures are clear. Work queries recede on weekends, though less dramatically in the highest-earning occupations. News requests cluster in the morning. Sleep advice spikes around 5 AM. Tax questions surge at filing deadlines.

The methodology is the real story here. Anthropic is doing longitudinal, privacy-preserving linkage between survey data and actual usage patterns. That is a behavioral research program, not just a product metric. The "cadences" framing positions this as ongoing work, not a one-off report.

Claude Code v2.1.195

A maintenance release. Hook matchers with hyphenated identifiers (e.g., mcp__brave-search, code-reviewer) now exact-match rather than substring-match, eliminating unintended trigger bleed. Voice dictation gets two fixes: macOS sessions no longer capture silence after a device change, and auto-submit now fires correctly for languages without word spaces (Japanese, Chinese, Thai). JetBrains IDE terminals stop flickering; Kitty-protocol terminals (WezTerm, Ghostty) no longer drop Shift+non-ASCII characters. Background agents are more stable: jobs no longer lose data when written by a newer Claude Code version, and orphaned --bg-pty-host processes no longer spin at 100% CPU on macOS after daemon exit.
New in this release Set CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_MOUSE_CLICKS=1 to disable click and drag in fullscreen mode while keeping scroll. Managed settings with an invalid entry no longer silently disable remaining valid policies.
Why it matters The hook-matcher fix is load-bearing for anyone running multi-server MCP setups with hyphenated server names. The voice fix for non-space languages is the first explicit Claude Code accessibility improvement for CJK users.
